Burhan Ahmeti belongs to the generation of new contemporary graphics painters in the Republic of Macedonia. Born, educated and shaped under the Pollog sky, he is a new hope that will enrich the long tradition of artists in this area.
The opening of Tetovo University and the Faculty of Arts within, a new window full of different colours was opened to the region of Pollog. It was a new sun beam that shined upon the faces of Pollog youth full of light and energy; that would list higher the hopes and ideals of their parents who have unselfishly worked as emigrants in Western Europe. They served as a guardian to our national identity. Inspired with the opening of Tetovo University, Buran Ahmeti, became one of the most well known students of graphics. With his dedication to the work and his exemplary behaviour to others he became a role model for many. His talent for graphics was obvious and he was persistent in search for his identity which he expressed in his graphics work. Even today he remains the same with his impressive character full of creative energy in the filed of graphics, music and artistic photography which he passionately develops. In the filed of graphics he uses the aquatint technique which he passionately develops with the dry-needle technique and the one of copper-writing. From time to time he also uses the digital graphics technique which is also his preferred field. As light-motive he uses themes from the urban life, themes from the national background and social. Themes that appear in how works are also those of Albanian history, the migrations, massacres, sufferings and century repression by the enemies of Albanians. Burhan Ahmeti with great emotions likes to use motives from the ancient architecture. In the focus of his composition he builds the image of idealistic treatment and personifies carefully the other elements by giving desired poetic directions. The graphics of Burhan Ahmeti is almost abstract in its entirety. They are built with great professionalism both in the idealistic aspect as well as in the technical one. The form is well modelled; it has comprehension and does not become a victim of circumstance. These forms make his graphics more concise, fully understandable, with authentic imagination. Therefore it’s not accidental that Burhan’s graphics are liked and award winning at the International Biennale of graphics in Tetovo. Burhan’s graphics send a message how the dreams can be realised based on the challenges of our times which express the highest virtues of our region.
